Chase Taylor is a New York City-based artist and designer with over ten years experience in the commercial and residential textile and wallcovering industry. Earning her MFA in Textiles from the Rhode Island School of Design, Chase has managed and worked in the design studios of some of the most aesthetically driven and sustainable textile companies in the industry.

With a deep understanding of material science, structure and the poetry of weaving, she is adept at finding the alchemy in which those things come together into the functional woven cloth.

Her ceramic practice extends this ongoing exploration of material, structure and form. A self-taught ceramicist, Chase creates sculptural, hand-built works that consider the inherent qualities of clay—its weight, tactility and capacity to hold the trace of the hand. Working intuitively, she embraces the tension between control and unpredictability, allowing the material and the process of making to shape each piece. The resulting forms are both elemental and considered, celebrating the physicality of clay and the subtle irregularities that reveal how an object was made.
